Quickstart

From zero to a live dashboard. If your platform supports one-click connect, the whole thing takes about five minutes — the exact timings are at the bottom of this page. No credit card at any step.

1. Sign up

Head to ploxir.com/signup. Two ways in:

  • Email + password — you'll need to click the verification link Ploxir emails you before the dashboard opens.
  • Google, Apple, or GitHub — one click, and since the provider already verified your email, you skip the verification step entirely.

There is no setup wizard. Signing up creates your first workspace automatically (named after you — you can rename it any time in Settings), and your browser's timezone is captured so "today" on the dashboard means today where you are.

Didn't get the verification email?
Until you verify, the dashboard redirects to a holding page with a resend button — check spam, then resend from there. Social sign-ins never see this page: Google, Apple, and GitHub already verified the address.

2. Create a project

You land on your workspace portfolio — a first-run card there walks you through the three concepts (source → widget → portfolio). The container you fill first is a project: one of your businesses or products. If you run three side projects, you'll create three projects; each has its own sources and widgets, and they all roll up into the portfolio.

In the sidebar, click + New project, give it a name and pick a color. Adding a website is optional — Ploxir grabs the project's logo from it automatically, and you can always set both later in the project's settings.

3. Connect your first source

Open the project and click Source on the "Add to project" tile. The picker lists 50+ platforms grouped by category (Payments & subscriptions, E-commerce, Ad spend, Web analytics, …) with a search box. Stripe is a good first stop if you have one.

One-click connect (OAuth) is the primary flow for many platforms: click Connect with Stripe (or Shopify, Google, Square, …), approve access on the provider's consent screen, and you're dropped straight back into Ploxir — no keys to copy. Platforms that support both flows show a two-card chooser: Connect with X next to Manual setup. Prefer manual (or using a platform without OAuth)? Paste an API key instead — the connect-a-source guide has step-by-step instructions per platform, including exactly where to generate each key. If one-click connect isn't active yet for a platform, the dialog says so and offers the manual path.

Connecting a source is an Admin action
Sources carry credentials, so wiring them requires the Admin role or higher. If you just signed up you're the Owner — no problem. But an invited Editor following this guide will hit a wall here: Editors build widgets; Admins wire the data plumbing. See Teams & roles.

Two things happen the moment you connect:

  • The first sync runs immediately — no waiting for a schedule. Stripe additionally starts a full-history backfill in the background (the only connector that does; the rest build history forward from the day you connect).
  • Starter widgets are seeded automatically — up to four tiles (the connector's headline KPIs plus one trend chart) appear on the project grid, so you land on data instead of an empty page. This only happens on first connect; reconnecting the same account never duplicates them. Webhook and HTTP/JSON sources skip seeding, since their widgets are meaningless until you define event names or JSON paths.

4. Read the dashboard

Three controls in the toolbar do most of the work:

  • Range switcher — Today / 7 days / This month / 30 days / 1 year / All time / Custom. The range lives in the URL, so a bookmarked link keeps its window. Day boundaries follow your workspace timezone.
  • Refresh — shows how long ago the sources last synced, and clicking it force-syncs every source right now. Providers with native webhooks (Stripe, Shopify, Paddle, PayPal, and others) push updates live; the rest are polled every 2–24 hours depending on the platform, so Refresh is how you pull them now. Details in Real-time updates.
  • Reporting currency — optional; converts money widgets across sources into one currency. More in the portfolio guide.

One subtlety worth knowing on day one: some widgets carry their own sensible default range — a revenue widget defaults to 30 days, shown as a small 30D chip on the tile — which applies until you explicitly pick a page range. And point-in-time widgets (MRR, account balances, open tickets) ignore the range switcher entirely: "current MRR" has no 7-day version, so those tiles show no chip.

5. Add a second widget

Click Widget on the "Add to project" tile (or Add widget on the portfolio). The picker searches across 1,200+ built-in widgets — everything each connector exposes: MRR, recent transactions, refund rate, page views, error counts, and so on. Pick one, then move and resize it on the grid however you like. Widget building requires Editor or higher.

When the built-ins aren't enough, there's a custom composer (combine values from several sources into one tile), formula widgets on the portfolio (ARPU, LTV, CAC, …), and dashboard tools like notes and goal trackers — see Building widgets.

6. Invite your team — or don't

Ploxir works fully solo; nothing in the product assumes a team. When you do want one, go to Settings → Members, enter an email and pick a role (Viewer, Editor, or Admin — Editor is the default). The invite is bound to that email and valid for 7 days.

Honest caveat: Free and Pro workspaces are single-member — team seats (10 per workspace) are a Team-plan feature. See Teams & roles and Plans & billing.

Honest timings

StepTypical time
Sign up + verify email1–3 minutes (bounded by the verification email; social sign-in skips it)
One-click OAuth connectUnder a minute
Manual API-key connect3–10 minutes, depending on the provider's dashboard
First numbers on the gridSeconds — the first sync runs at connect, and starter widgets appear with it
Stripe full-history backfillRuns in the background; minutes on large accounts
Ongoing freshnessLive for push providers (Stripe, Shopify, …); every 2–24 hours for polled ones — the Refresh button forces a sync any time

FAQ

I connected a source but no data is showing. What do I check?

In order of likelihood:

  • The source errored. Open the project's Sources page — a red chip or error text on the source row means the credential or config is bad; the Reconnect button fixes it in place without losing your widgets.
  • The range is "Today" and nothing happened today. Switch to 30 days. (Widgets with their own default range, like revenue, avoid this — but not every widget has one.)
  • It's a webhook source. Those show nothing until your app actually POSTs events to the webhook URL — see Webhooks.
  • The account really has no activity in the window. Zero can be the true answer; widen the range to confirm.

The numbers show in the wrong currency.

Each source reports in its primary currency (picked by transaction volume), and Ploxir never silently sums mixed currencies into one number. To see everything in one currency, set a reporting currency — via the switcher in the dashboard toolbar or Settings → General; changing it is an Admin action either way — and money widgets convert using daily ECB FX rates. A single widget showing the wrong symbol? Check its currency code in the widget's edit dialog.

How do I add my other business?

Usually: another project in the same workspace (+ New project in the sidebar). Each project gets its own sources and widgets, and the portfolio rolls them all up side by side. Create a separate workspace (from the workspace switcher) only when you want full isolation — different members, different settings, nothing shared. Note the Free plan includes one workspace; more workspaces are a paid-plan feature (plans & limits).

Do I need a credit card?

No. Signing up is free, the Free plan needs no card ever, and you only enter payment details in Stripe Checkout if you choose to upgrade. During the beta, even paid plans are free of charge — you pick a plan and its limits apply, but payment is waived.

I invited a teammate and they can't connect a source.

Connecting, renaming, and deleting sources requires Admin or higher — Editors create projects and build widgets, but don't handle credentials. Either promote them in Settings → Members or connect the source yourself.

Why does a new widget say "30D" when the page is on Today?

That widget ships with its own default range (revenue widgets default to 30 days so they don't show $0 before your first sale of the day). The moment you explicitly pick a page range, it follows the page. You can also lock any range-aware widget to a fixed range from its options () menu — point-in-time widgets don't offer the option, since they ignore ranges entirely.

"Today" seems to start at the wrong hour.

Day boundaries follow the workspace timezone, which was captured from your browser at signup. If it's wrong (or your team spans zones), an Admin can change it in Settings → General — it re-buckets Today and This month immediately.
